A Watch as minimal as its name
We are one of only a handful of watch brands out there that will let you create a customized piece, designed to your own specifications. But for those who want something formed by a trained hand and eye, there is the new L1, created by award-winning designer Fabian Schwaerzler. Next to the minimalist shelves and chairs Schwaerzler has designed in the past (for the likes of Vitra, no less), the L1 looks right at home and, unlike many “design- watches,” offers a robust automatic movement underneath the sleek exterior. Schwaerzler had never designed a watch before, but decided to approach this project with the same attention to simplicity and functionality that he would use when designing something for your home. The stainless steel case has a nice brushed finish, a slim bezel, and short, arched lugs. Viewed from the size, there is definitely something architectural about the L1’s shape.
There is a small date window at 3 o’clock and all three hands are slim and elegantly proportioned. There is relatively little text on the dial, something that you’ll notice immediately when looking at the L1. All of the markings (and the branding) are luminous and glow blue when the lights go out. Many design-focused watches house simple quartz movement since the target customer might be more interested in the case and dial than what sits inside. But the L1 houses an ETA 2824-2 automatic movement. It’s a great workhorse movement and we’re proud to present a watch with such a carefully designed exterior get a real mechanical movement inside.
The Price is 2.300.– Swiss Francs for stainless steel and 3.200.– for the DLC coated version. We also include one of three straps with each L1 watch. This is good news since we are known for our excellent choice of straps in regard to quality and matching them with a case. Included are either a black, brown, and natural umber (lighter brown) barenia leather strap.
The L1 is new also available in a 37mm, 39mm and a 42mm case. They have exactly the same beauty, but just are either smaller or bigger.
